Tommy Robinson travels to “Palestine” and visits a refugee camp

by Brian of London

In November 2016 Tommy Robinson made a private visit to Israel. Following his years of activism in the UK, he was intensely curious to see Israel for himself. It always seemed that the majority of groups and people in the UK who directly opposed his work were often part of the global movement to delegitimize Israel, often promoting the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement).

This video was taken in the Dheisheh Refugee Camp, administered by the special UN agency for Palestinian Refugees, UNRWA. Unlike all other refugees in the world which are looked after by UNHCR (UN High Commission for Refugees), refugees from the foundation of Israel have their own special agency: UN Relief and Works Agency. This agency also makes a fundamental difference in who it determines to be a refugee: only Palestinian refugee status is hereditary. No other refugees in the world pass on refugee status to their heirs. This means the very great majority of Palestinian Refugees were not even born when Israel declared independence in 1948. That is why, more than 70 years later, there are refugee camps, maintained as a political tool and to perpetuate the victim status of those who live there.

At the time of the creation of Israel, there was an approximately equal number of Arab refugees from Israel and Jewish refugees from the entire Arab world. Those Jewish refugees were taken in by Israel and there are no camps of Jewish refugees from Arab lands in Israel, they’re all Israeli citizens. The Palestinian leadership has kept Palestinians in refugee status for decades for purely political points.
