Five mosques had windows smashed with a hammer last week, with the authorities and mainstream media immediately spreading the assumption that these attacks were right-wing terror related with the motivation being linked to the aftermath of the atrocities in the New Zealand terror attacks.
This is an important update.
West Midlands Police is not seeking anyone else in relation to the attacks, we are satisfied they were not motivated by right wing extremism and are not being treated as terror-related.

Investigating officers are no longer treating the matter as terror-related after a 34 year-old man from the Perry Barr region of Birmingham handed himself into a police station on Friday.
The suspect has now been detained under the mental health act, no further details have been given on the suspect at the time of writing. A special investigation has now reportedly been launched.
